Privacy Policy
Asterism (“we”) provides a mobile app that helps local businesses reply to online reviews. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Account details you provide when you sign up (such as email).
- Business profile information you enter or approve, including knowledge from a website or menu you choose to share.
- Reviews of your business, including the reviewer’s public name, what they wrote, and links to any photos or videos, and reply drafts, needed to sync platforms, generate drafts, and post replies.
- Replies you have already written on connected platforms, including ones from before you signed up.
- Connection tokens for the review platforms you link, stored encrypted on our servers so we can act on your behalf.
- Subscription and purchase status from Apple when you subscribe in the App Store.
- Device push tokens if you enable notifications.
How we use it
- To operate the product: sync reviews, draft replies, and post replies you approve or that your auto-reply settings allow.
- To match how you write, and to suggest business details for you to approve, using replies you have written. You can turn off matching in your voice settings.
- To bill and manage your subscription through Apple.
- To send product notices you opt into, such as new review alerts.
- To improve reliability and safety of the service.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with processors that help us run the service: Vercel and Fly.io (hosting), Supabase (database and sign-in), Anthropic (AI drafting), Cloudflare (storing files you upload), and Apple (push delivery). We share data with a review platform when you connect it and when a reply posts to it. Apple processes App Store payments. If you join a shop as staff, its owner sees the email you signed in with.
Google Business Profile data
When you connect Google, you approve our access to your Business Profile. Google describes this permission as managing your profile. This is what we do with it:
- What we read: your accounts and locations; each location’s name, address, categories, website, hours, and phone numbers; and its reviews, including the reviewer’s public name, the rating, the text, any reply, and links to any photos or videos. The app loads those from Google, and we don’t store the files.
- What we change: we post and edit replies to reviews, when you approve them or your auto-reply settings allow. We change nothing else on your profile.
- Who receives it: to write each draft, Anthropic receives the review, the reviewer’s name, your business details, and, unless you turn matching off, some of your past replies, but not the reviewer’s photos or videos. Our hosting and database providers store and process it. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
- How long we keep it: until you delete the business or your account. Disconnecting Google stops syncing and deletes our sign-in tokens for it, but reviews already synced stay until then.
Our website
If you join the waitlist, your email and business type go to Formspree, which collects the form for us. We use Vercel Analytics to count visits. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you visit.
Retention and your choices
You can disconnect platforms, delete a business, or delete your account in the app, or email us to request deletion. Deleting a business or your account deletes its reviews, drafts, and replies from our database. Otherwise we keep your data until you delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
To get a copy of your reviews and replies, email us and we’ll send them in a file you can take to another service.
